Today the veil has lifted
And what was lost is found,
Those pieces to
the puzzle
for which you searched so long –
the name on the tip of your
tongue,
the eyes of your father,
the memory of love that
encompassed your heart.
The straight
edges of the years
flowing on,
and the bumps
of every new adventure.
The dream-like newness of
a baby, eyes luminous with
adoration.
The feel of his
touch,
the sound of their
laughter.
A phone number,
the car keys, appointments, birthdays.
You almost had
it, just there,
at the edge of memory –
but it
dissolved like the wisp of a dream on waking –
With a groan, a
sigh.
But now –
Now the sky has broken open,
the world is drenched in light,
the chaos stilled.
The searching has ended,
the puzzle is done,
the picture complete –
And you are
whole again.
